Each year I get some amazing commissions and Christmas 2016 was a bumper year for some fabulous, bespoke pieces of jewellery.

I had to keep very quiet about these commissions until now but at last I can reveal these beauties to the world! So here you go – nine bespoke pieces commissioned for Christmas 2016. All these were made with love, by hand, in the Hannah Louise Lamb garden studio, AKA the 'Shedio'!

Dazzle is back!

This Friday 5th August Dazzle, the annual contemporary jewellery exhibition, returns to Edinburgh's Dovecot Studios and my work will take it's place alongside many brilliant makers, as it has for over 10 years now.

I love Dazzle

It's been a part of my life both as an exhibiting jeweller and when I worked as an assistant at the shows, first in Glasgow, then when I was a student at the Royal College of Art in London and finally up here in Edinburgh during the Edinburgh Festival each year.

Something to suit everyone's tastes and budget; prices start from around £20

Dazzle are committed to showing high quality hand crafted contemporary jewellery from the modest to the utterly luxurious, which makes it a great place to buy no matter what your budget, and Dazzle has a hugely loyal following.

Everything is hand made by jewellers in the UK

They feature a range of makers, and are one of the few places you can see work by recently graduated alongside well known international artists – I've had the honour to be featured alongside amazing jewellers in these great exhibitions.

If you're looking for an introduction to contemporary jewellery, you can't go wrong with Dazzle. It's got something for everyone – unusual, interesting, classic, beautifully made, wacky – and everything is hand made by jewellers in the UK.

I make special pieces for Dazzle

And I show these pieces alongside my regular range. I don't do many exhibitions or craft shows these days, or even sell in many galleries, so Dazzle is a special occasion in the year.

Who to look out for at Dazzle?

This year I wanted to highlight the work of three jewellers who have, or had, studios at Coburg House in Leith, where I've been based until very recently too.

Donna Barry

Donna is one of my best friends, but I love her work for the fact that it is delicate and easy to wear but stunning and unusual. She has created her own special technique for fusing silver which gives her piece a really unique quality and I highly recommend seeking her work out.

Grace Girvan

I think Grace is just brill, and that spills over into her work. I love her use of interesting materials – the wood, pebbles, beautiful enamel, colours – all of them come together to create such a stunning effect.

Misun Won

Misun creates jewellery I just love. It's easy to wear but is unusual, geometric and structural with little flashed of gold or coloured threads. I'd been wanting a piece of Misun's for ages and then the girls at the studio bought me a pair of her earrings for my birthday, which made me so happy!

I hope you can get along to see the show.

Dazzle Edinburgh

5 – 29 August 2016

But what if the father figure you adore already has some of my cufflinks? Well one of the perks of my job is that I get to meet some incredible makers and see some gorgeous handmade gifts. I've selected three handmade items that I reckon will be great gifts for Father's Day.

Emily is not only an incredibly talented paper cut artist, she also has a wee Westie pooch and a little girl the same age as mine, so we spend a lot of time strolling the beaches of East Lothian together. Her Limited Edition ‘Dog’ screen print in Slate Grey, priced at £55, would make an excellent present for a man with a canine best friend.

Catherine Aitken, Gents Toiletry Bag in Harris Tweed, £45

Catherine, who I met at Coburg House Studios, teamed up with me back in the day to head off to a few 'country fairs', and we have spent a fair few nights in my van camping in the freezing cold August weather in the Scottish hills!! Her beautiful 'man bags' have been such a hit with my own Dad and brother I had to feature them. Her Gents Toiletry Bags, made in Harris Tweed and priced at £45, are a fantastically classy and practical present.

Charming Creatures, British Bird Eggs, from £5

Charming Creatures, AKA Emily Steele, is one of my lovely Instagram friends. We got chatting online and as we are both Staffie owners we hit it off. Last year I commissioned her to make a Christmas ornament of my Staffie Merryn which is probably one of the cutest things I've ever seen! Her British Bird Eggs, priced from £5 each, are beautiful little colourful pieces, perfect for someone who wants to buy handmade on a small budget.

What do you think? Have I found a hidden gem for you? Or can you share the best Father's Day present you've bought or received? I'd love to hear in the comments below.
